Hobbies: I enjoy cooking, baking, binge watching TV shows, attending concerts, collecting sneakers, spending time with my husband and family, and doing anything that pertains to Christmas!

Why Dublin: It is important to me to be in a program that is Osteopathic accredited, gives strong outpatient training, values wellness, has a familial environment, gives exposure to a diverse patient population, and provides room for me to explore my interests. The most important part is that it is a program with high quality training that challenges you to become the best doctor they know you can be! The real question is, "Why not Dublin?"!

Connor Davis, DO

Finally, I look forward to continued service through our church’s free medical clinic for our local underserved community.

Hobbies: Spending time with family and friends, playing soccer, golfing, running, traveling, watching documentaries, trying new coffee shops, co-leading my church’s small group, and listening to music.

Why Dublin Methodist: I chose the Dublin Methodist Family Medicine Program because of genuine sense of community amongst faculty and colleagues alike, as well as the ability to tailor my residency education to my specific areas of interest through the Ultrasound, OMM, and Lifestyle Medicine curriculums. During my time with the program in medical school, I felt supported from the start and quickly appreciated the personable and intentional nature of the team. Why Dublin Methodist: The list of reasons for choosing Dublin could go on-and-on. Additionally, the established curriculum tracks/elective opportunities allow for an opportunity to gain a deeper knowledge of the different areas of medicine that I am the most interested in. Hobbies: Spending time with my wife and our families and friends, hiking, travelling, attending OSU football games (Go Bucks!), and trying out new recipes and restaurants.

Why Dublin Methodist: One of the main reasons I chose Dublin Family Medicine was the amazing sense of community within the program that was evident from day one of my Sub-I rotation during medical school. The support offered top-down, from the faculty to the staff and other residents, was unmatched and made me feel part of the team even as a rotating medical student. Dublin Family Medicine also aligns very closely with my own goals that I have for my future, including an outpatient focus while also allowing room for exploring my interests of sports medicine and point-of-care ultrasound.

Rebecca Grant, MD

Associate Program Director

About Me: I am born and raised in a small town on the Ohio River, called Portsmouth, Ohio. After high school, I attended The Ohio State University and continued to reside in Columbus for medical school at OSUCOM and residency training in the Department of Family Medicine at Ohio State. I subsequently served as Associate Clinical Professor at Ohio State Wexner Medical Center's giving me the opportunity to teach residents and medical students. I simultaneously was able to hone my passion of caring for adolescents by working as adjunct faculty and lead physician for Nationwide Children's Hospital Primary Care Teen Clinic. I currently serve as an Associate Program Director of the Dublin Family Medicine Dream Team.  I love mentoring young learners to help them reach their personal and career goals.

Medical Interests: Adolescent Health, Women's Health, Contraception, Chronic disease management, Caring for underserved patients

Hobbies: I love to participate in group fitness classes, particularly Hip-Hop fitness.  I am a Quadruple Buckeye, so I love OSU football and tailgating. I also enjoy participating in community events with my local sorority chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. And I can't forget, I enjoy watching reality TV (don't judge me!)

Favorite Foods: Italian food, Popcorn (cheddar preferably) and carrot cake!

What do you love about your job? I love pouring into the next generation of physicians. It is gratifying to see the professional and personal growth over the course of residency and see our residents become well-rounded, compassion, competent physicians.

Fun Facts: I was a member of a singing group from my hometown, Portsmouth, Ohio during my teenage years called the Daughter of Freedom. We sang locally and all over the state of Ohio including the national anthem at a Cincinnati Reds game.

Kelly Miller, DO

Associate Program Director

About me: I grew up near Lima, Ohio.  I met my husband in grade school and we have been together since high school.   We have one son and we just adopted a puppy.  I went to the University of Dayton for undergrad and then attended Midwestern University, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.  I did my Family Medicine Residency at La Grange Memorial Hospital in La Grange, IL where I served as Chief Resident.  We moved to Columbus after I finished residency to be closer to our extended families.  I was in an OhioHealth Primary Care practice for just over 10 years, in Grove City before jumping into GME.

Medical Interests: I appreciate the wide range of conditions and patients that family medicine offers. I specifically enjoy pediatrics, dermatology and practice management. I find it rewarding to help patients through their concerns and I enjoy working through complex cases.

Hobbies: I enjoy gardening and all things flower related.  My husband recently built me a greenhouse and that is usually where you can find me.  One of my favorite hobbies, if you can call it that, is watching a sunset over water, especially in the Florida Keys.  My son plays travel hockey and my husband builds an ice rink in the back yard every winter.  I enjoy watching him play and playing with him, although he can skate circles around me at this point.  As a family we enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking, camping, traveling, Buckeye football and tailgating.

Favorite Foods: I love all things grapefruit! I also love all kinds of food: authentic Italian, Indian, Thai, sushi, Greek, Latin, seafood, I could go on and on.

What do you love about your job: I really enjoy getting to know patients and really taking the time to help them understand their condition and the “why” behind the medicine. Similarly, I find that teaching students/residents how to think through the problems of medicine is one of the most worthwhile things one can be taught. Some of the most fulfilling experiences I have had, have been watching those I’ve taught, patients or students, get to the point that they have learned how to think through those situations on their own.

Fun facts: I have an “irrational” fear (per my husband) of sharks. Although I very much enjoy shark fishing in the Keys…as long as I’m on the boat!

Kostas Demertzis, MD

Assistant Program Director

About me: I moved to the U.S. from Greece 7 years ago from an island in the North Aegean Sea called Samos. I went to med school in the port city of Ancona, Italy. After med school, I returned to Greece, where I finished my Family Medicine residency, got married to my Greek American wife, and had three kids (our son, Niko, and twins, Philip and Veronica.) Professionally, I worked as an attending physician in the public health system, and I thought that my career was on-track. But life is unpredictable, and when the economic crisis hit, my wife and I decided to move to Ohio (“returning” for her, “immigrating” for me). It was a crazy idea that ended up well! I was lucky to be part of the beginning of the Dublin FM residency as part of its first class of residents, and lucky again (after completing a one-year fellowship in Quality and Safety at Riverside Hospital) to have the opportunity to serve as a faculty member in our residency, where I can work with people that I like and who share similar views about Family Medicine and medical education.

Medical Interests: Outpatient FM has always been my “thing.” Medical Education and Quality/Population Health were always in my DNA and became a reality when I started practicing in the U.S.

Hobbies: I like working out and running, and I have recently re-visited my first passion—basketball--because I have started playing with my kids! Let’s hope that I don’t end up with a broken ankle!

Favorite Foods: Any “good food” in general. On principle, I don’t have favorite foods because it would stop me from tasting other food!

What do you love about your job: I’m happy to do a job that I can bring my passion to. This position gives me the possibility to positively influence patients and learners, and Dublin provides the best environment to achieve that, and it’s exciting to be a part of a growing program.

Fun Facts: My kids call me “Dr. No” and the “Common Sense Guy”! I think any parent can relate with that!

Jennifer Hetrick, MD

Assistant Program Director

About me: I grew up an hour north of Columbus in Marion, Ohio. I went to the University of Pennsylvania for undergrad and then attended Case Western for medical school. I then completed residency at University of Missouri School of Medicine, where I served as chief resident, and stayed on as faculty for five years. My most important job is being mom to my two teenagers daughters. I have had a variety of family medicine and urgent care jobs, and I am thrilled to settle in as faculty as part of the Dublin Dream Team, where I work with such great people and am able to practice lifestyle medicine. I also have a direct primary care practice in Worthington, Ohio.

Medical Interests: Lifestyle medicine, solving complex medical cases/medical mysteries, and caring for patients through all stages of life.

Hobbies: When I’m not taking care of business, I love doing anything that has to do with water and being outside. I love spending time with my kids and dogs, and also enjoy home improvement projects.

Favorite Foods: Anything gluten free and vegan. I love pad thai and ethnic foods.

What do you love about your job: The people! The residents, the faculty, the staff, the medical students, the patients, everyone.

Dorvan Byler, DO

Assistant Program Director

About me: I am a recent graduate from Dublin Family Medicine (class of 2023) who decided to stick around! My wife Miranda and I met at Kent State University where we completed our undergrad degrees. We moved to Columbus from north east Ohio when I started medical school at Ohio University, and we now plan to live here forever. We have two-year-old twins, Atlas and Ophelia, who keep us very occupied. We are both very active in a small community church that we love.

Medical Interests: Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, behavioral health, and underserved care. One of my favorite things about my faculty role is that I can interact with all three of these interests: I am an Osteopathic Education faculty member, I supervise our Longitudinal Psychotherapy Track, and I help out with precepting at the Wellness on Wheels clinic that cares for patients who are living at the Van Buren Shelter near downtown Columbus. A new interest of mine is providing primary care for patients with eating disorders, and I am actively working on educating myself and our office on the best ways to do this!

Hobbies: My wife and I are currently watching Survivor, starting from season 1. I love playing table top role playing games with friends and PlayStation games by myself. I find my kids to be endlessly entertaining. I am a season ticketholder and avid supporter of the Greatest Team the World Has Ever Seen, The Yellow Soccer Team, the 2023 MLS Champions, the Columbus Crew!

Favorite Foods: Anything grilled, Mediterranean dishes, and custard pie.

What do you love about your job: I really like the culture of our program and feel at home here. The faculty, staff, and residents function well as a team and the flexibility of the Dream Team philosophy allows individuals to lean into their strengths. I love working where it feels like anything I want to do is possible, and that the default answer to new ideas is yes!

Fun facts: My undergraduate degree was history, with a focus on first century Rome/Greece. I learned how to read ancient Greek (but definitely forgot all of it by now). I am number 5 out of 9 kids.

Matt Kunar,

DO, MBOE, FAAFP

Director of Medical Education

Things that bring me joy: My family (Jillian, Sophie, and Maxwell), teaching Family Medicine, exercising, eating out, movie night, watching the Buckeyes and the Cleveland teams win.

Two truths and a lie (no particular order): Jillian and I met in medical school at OUHCOM over 16 years ago and she is a hospitalist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. I have attended ten Taylor Swift concerts on three different continents. I completed my residency in the Army and spent seven years on active duty.

Why you should consider training with us: When I was hired in 2015 to start the Dublin Methodist Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, I had a vision. That vision was to prepare family medicine physicians for future practice in Ohio. Though the ACGME requires us to train you to be a “full spectrum” family practitioner, it is rare to see non-academic FM physicians practice “full spectrum” medicine in Ohio. I believe that it is important to know how to deliver a baby and how to attend to sick patients in the hospital, but it is just as important establishing a rapport with your patient panel and being available to see them every day. We pride ourselves in having an innovative and flexible curriculum that puts an emphasis on outpatient medicine and wellness. No matter what your interests are, we are confident that we can build a curriculum for you that will help you succeed as an outpatient family physician.

Jenni Cook, MSW, LISW-S

Program Director, Behavioral Science

About Me: I’ve lived my entire life in Columbus and currently live in Hilliard with my husband, sweet baby and our three rescue dogs! I have my undergraduate degree in Social Work from ODU and completed the ASAP graduate program with my Masters in Social Work from The Ohio State University. I am an independently licensed social worker with the supervision designation. I learned about this job while attending a wedding in North Carolina and it was meant to be to make the switch to GME!

Hobbies: Anything & everything involving my baby, reading, running, shopping at Target, trying different wineries, traveling, going to country concerts!

Favorite foods: Mexican, iced coffee, donuts, literally every fruit, French fries, mimosas & pasta!

What do you love about your job? I love the absolutely amazing team of physicians, faculty, residents and office staff I get to work with as part of the Dublin Dream Team! This program has impressive flexibility to structure your experience and education towards your goals and interests, and I get to witness so much growth and also learn equally as much along the way. It’s such a positive and healthy environment to experience.

Fun Facts: I ran my first marathon when I was 26, I have a twin brother (we got engaged 3 months apart, our weddings were 3 weeks apart and our babies are 3 months apart!), I can say the ABCs backwards (and super-fast), my dog is certified through Therapy Dogs International, I met my husband on Bumble & my baby was born 7 weeks early!

About me: I was born and raised on the west side of Cleveland but transplanted to Columbus in 1994 after living in China for several years. I stumbled into Graduate Medical Education in 2005, and worked at Grant and Riverside before being offered the amazing opportunity to work with the team to start the Dublin Methodist Family Medicine Residency Program. My husband and I raised three kids and are now empty nesters, expecting our first grandchild in November 2024!

Hobbies: love to travel and do crafty things. I’m an avid runner and also enjoy biking on the many paths in Dublin, taking Orange Theory classes, and hiking or walking on “off” days. I always have a good book going on my Kindle. I enjoy hosting people in my home. I’m also heavily involved with my church – sing with the worship band, have a role on the pastoral teaching team, and am involved in a small group. My husband and I also enjoy taking our passion for international work to serving on medical mission teams.

I then worked as a program coordinator at another OhioHealth hospital for 3 years, then came back to Dublin in July of 2022!
